Privacy Policy

Most privacy policies are long because the app collects a lot and the policy has to account for it. This one is short for the opposite reason. Everything below is a description of how the app is actually built, not a statement of intent.

What we collect

Nothing. We have no way to identify you, contact you, or observe how you use the app. We do not know how many cards you own, which cards you scanned, or that you opened the app at all.

The app contains no analytics, telemetry, crash-reporting, attribution or advertising software of any kind. On iOS this is declared in the app's privacy manifest, which lists no collected data types and no tracking domains — Apple's own privacy label on the store listing reflects the same thing.

The scanner and your camera

The app asks for camera access so it can identify cards. That permission is used for card scanning and nothing else.

• Card recognition happens entirely on your device. The app compares a compact mathematical fingerprint of the camera image against a catalogue bundled inside the app. There is no cloud recognition service and no image upload.
• Camera frames are not saved and not transmitted. They are used to produce a match and then discarded.
• No photos are taken or stored. The app does not request access to your photo library.

Because recognition is local, the scanner works with no internet connection at all. That is a design decision, not a limitation.

Where your data lives

Your collection, decks and settings are stored in a database file on your device, inside the app's own private storage. Nothing is synchronised anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to synchronise to.

If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it. Keep a backup first if you want to preserve it.

Backups you create

The app can export your collection and decks as a single file. When you do this, your device's normal share sheet asks where the file should go — a cloud drive, a messaging app, another device, wherever you choose.

That destination is entirely your decision, and once the file is there it is subject to whatever privacy terms that service applies. We never see the file and are not involved in the transfer. Restoring works the same way in reverse: you pick a file, and the app reads it locally.

Network activity

Binderpunk has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no update checks, and it sends nothing about you or your collection anywhere. We operate no servers for it to contact. Every feature, including the scanner, works with the device fully offline.

There is one exception, and it is one you trigger by hand: if you tap a link to an outside website — for example a support or rules page — your device opens it in a browser as it would any other link. At that point you are on someone else's website, under their privacy policy, and this one no longer applies.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. There is no sign-up, no profile, no messaging and no user-generated content.

Your rights

Privacy law gives you rights to access, correct, export and erase personal data an organisation holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to look up, correct, hand over or delete.

You already have complete control of your own data through the app itself: the export function gives you a portable copy, and deleting the app removes everything.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever gains a feature that changes any of the above — an optional account, say, or an online card-data update — this page will be updated before that feature ships, and the change will be described plainly rather than absorbed into the wording. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
